Amanda Huckins

In her weekday hours, Amanda assists multiple toddlers as they adjust to being. She deeply loves working alongside fellow community members to build self-determination, forge non-transactional relationships, and create radical free spaces. Amanda will perform ahead of Hurray for the Riff Raff on Saturday, July 20th.

She/They
Poet and Performer

Stacey Waite

Waite’s poems are both lyrical and narrative, both subtle song and charged spoken word as they re-imagine and re-define the ways we think about gender as it moves us through the territory of an androgynous life. Their work is celebrated for its versatility and accessibility, making waves in diversity education and queer outreach activism as well as academic settings. Stacey will perform ahead of Mannequin Pussy on Friday, July 19th.

She/Her
Poet, performer, and spatial practitioner

Jewel Rodgers

Jewel is ranked sixth in the nation at the BlackBerry Peach Poetry Slam, representing the Nebraska Poetry Society, and a two-time nominee for Best Spoken Word Poet in Omaha. Alongside her artistic practice, she creates and maintains private parks in North Omaha for public use, continuing toward her long-term goal of co-creating our community through mindful spatial practice. Jewel is performing ahead of Keo & Them on Saturday, July 20, and is also hosting an outdoor workshop, Talk Like a GRRRL, that morning at 9 a.m.

Art at
GRRRL CAMP

BFF MaMO Gallery featuring Artist Carlie Wagener and Installation Artist, Alyssa Schmitt, will take you on a colorful and collective adventure, questioning your understanding of
the world and our place within it.

Carlie Waganer

BFF MaMo Gallery

Step into a world where threads intertwine, forming a tapestry of connection. "This Wide Web We’ve Been Weaving" tells the story of interconnection and cyclical systems through painted weavings, sculptural knots, and a community mural. Carlie Wagener is a collector, weaver, and perpetual novice.

Alyssa Schmitt

Alyssa Schmitt is an immersive artist whose work creates colorful dream worlds for viewers to wander through. Impermanent and site-specific, their installations combine draped abstract paintings on cotton with bulbous tactical sculptures. With two immensely different processes, sporadic brushwork compliments the methodical woven surfaces of the three-dimensional forms.

GRRRL CAMP partners with 1% Productions to bring nationally renowned acts for the festival's second year, now held across two days!

The music and arts festival creates a space and opportunity for individuals from all backgrounds and genders (yes fellas, you are welcome to attend) to gather and celebrate women in music, art and business.

The vision of GRRRL CAMP is inspired by the Riot GRRRL movement of the 1990’s and the ongoing evolution of feminism; third and fourth wave feminism focuses on the end of intersectional forms of prejudice and oppression, especially physical and emotional violence against all genders.

Why Representation Matters:

Women and non-binary individuals currently make up only 19-26% of the majority of nationally-renowned music festival lineups. GRRRL CAMP shines a light on the many and often overlooked femme creatives of the Midwest, and beyond.

Bonnaroo Music Festival 2024: 17.9% Women / 2.2% Non-Binary / 80.3% Men

Coachella Music Festival 2024: 25.1% Women / 1.0% Non-Binary / 74.2 Men

When We Were Young Festival 2023: 9.6% Women / 91.4% Men

GRRRL CAMP invites individuals to celebrate themselves and each other - to be seen, heard, and supported - by everyone.
